Tropical Heat evokes an invisible image that is revealed only through touch, through the warmth of our bodies. We engage with fabric treated with thermochromic ink, a pigment that becomes visible only when touched. This performance is inspired by the term "tropical gothic," coined by Filipino writer Nick Joaquin. It describes the layered complexities and contradictions of the Filipina/x/o identity—an identity haunted by its colonial past and further complicated through the experience of diaspora.
